As a photographer, artist and expert in geopolitics, Emeric Lhuisset has a remarkable understanding of human tragedies and areas of conflict. Through his projects in various areas of conflict he opposes the abridged representation of these tragedies; shows hidden aspects of wars; and invites us to re-think war through art. The work of Lhuisset takes up historical and political narratives in their context. The following two projects by Emeric Lhuisset recall tragedies and intervene in spaces where drastic events have taken place.

Sie habe versucht, das Bild unsichtbar zu machen, gestand die Fotografin Nina Berman 2016 in einem Vortrag über ihr Hochzeitsfoto einer jungen Frau mit einem schwer verletzten Veteranen aus dem Irak-Krieg: „It’s a very strange thing”, so Berman, „to have fought really hard in my career to make a story known about a subject that people were trying to hide, which is the human cost of war, and then feeling that I need to keep this picture, which I know is a very powerful picture, under wraps because for me the viral experience was very crass.“
