»Schaulust«, »Bilderwelten«, »Blickwechsel«, »Sehsucht«, »Der Traum vom Sehen«, »Ich sehe was, was du nicht siehst« – so lauten die Titel viel beachteter Ausstellungen der letzten Jahre, die den Sehsinn in den Mittelpunkt stellen. Damit folgt der Museumsbereich einem Trend, ohne dessen Schrittmacher zu sein. Doch diese starke Hinwendung zum Sehen, Schauen und Blicken vernachlässigt eine vermeintlich unbedeutende Tatsache: Voraussetzung für das Sehen ist der Raum, und ohne Raum könnte der so hervorgehobene Sinn nicht zur Entfaltung kommen.
